P-static is a phenomenon that can affect aircraft in flight, particularly in areas of high humidity or where there is precipitation. It is a form of electrostatic discharge that can cause interference with an aircraft’s communication and navigation systems. Static electricity is created by air friction as an aircraft flies, and when the electric charge accumulates sufficiently to discharge, radio interference is generated.
